Indians are on alert in Chiriqui on Mining Issues - Panama Report

     Mining and right remains a big debate in Chiriqui. As indians show solidarity and disagreement against the government.

    Ngäbe Bugle indigenous remains on alert and again requested the suspension of the discussion of amendments to the Mining Code in the National Assembly.

    Many   Indians   yesterday had assembled in a gathering on    Pan American Highway. The  crowd control police units   held them back in San Felix.  However   the district's population and majority claims to be in disagreement with the recent actions of the police and the government against the indigenous.

    About 19 Indians were injured  and they were treated at the Hospital at St. Felix and released.   There was also injured children said one resident of San Felix.

    A strong and aggressive crowd control unit still remain in eastern Chiriqui, to avoid any altercation   public dis-orderly conduct.  This is also confirmed  by a source at the National Police.

    Ngäbe Bugle indigenous remains on alert and again requested the government  suspension   the discussion of amendments to the Mining Code in the National Assembly.
