Learn How to Gain Or Loose 20LB in 24 hours

Mystery surrounds elite fighters and their ability to cut weight. How is it possible for Georges St. Pierre to drop 25 pounds by Friday afternoon before his fight with Jake Shields but gain most of it back and be full-strength by fight time on Saturday night?

It's no guessing game. Smart fighters treat nutrition as a science, carefully regulating their diet before fights. GSP's main trainer Firas Zahabi talked about what the UFC welterweight champ does to ensure a healthy weight cut.

Now he's on a protein and vegetable diet. Right now his exercise is significantly cut, but he's going to shed water. It's only temporary weight loss. It's not real weight loss. You're not dropping fat. (The final weight-cut) lasts about six days . . . By Friday he'll have six or seven pounds left and we'll put him in the sauna. I don't recommend this to anybody, even professional athletes. This is somebody who's very seasoned.

After GSP steps on the scale on Friday afternoon and weighs in at 170 lbs., his team will give him a carbohydrate-laden recovery drink. Then, he will eat normally and drink water to rehydrate. He'll weigh around 192 lbs. by the time he steps in the Octagon with Shields on Saturday night for UFC 129.

Some fighters start their eating plan months in advance. Mike Dolce, a nutritionist and former contestant on "The Ultimate Fighter," works with fighters to ensure a complete eating plan that helps fighters cut weight without the sauna. Like Zahabi, Dolce does not recommend sauna use.

"The guys who use the sauna to cut ten or twelve pounds, you're forcing your body to expel so much water so quickly that it's not discerning what water is safe to cut from the system and what water isn't. It's just taking it from wherever, and it becomes dangerous. That's where you see guys who don't recover from their weight cut. They look sluggish in their fight, and they defeat the whole purpose of all the training and the conditioning from their fight camp."

recent study on wrestlers found that severe weight cuts could hurt their mental abilities in a match. Without using proper methods, fighters can find themselves in bad shape for their bouts.

The Emberá and Wounaan in Chagres and Chepo

The Emberá and Wounaan in Chagres and Chepo

The Emberá and Wounaan in Chagres and Chepo

in Panama two ethnic races are natives of the Darien jungle, which is somewhat far from the capital city, and can be accessed by plane or in small cruise ships, however Emberá and Wounaan communities exist in areas closer to Panama City. The former can be found in Lake Alajuela, in the Canal region, in the towns of Parará Purúand Drúa. The Wounaan have settlements close to the Chagres river, also in the Canal area, in San Antonio, Mocambo andElla Purú. Other settlements close to the capital city are a short distance away, in the areas near Chepo, located towards the province of Darien, among them the Emberá Ipetí community. In all these communities, the members of these ethnic races live just like they do in Darien, conserving their customs, their foods and their beautiful craftsmanship, which can be obtained there.

Panama - Panama City Celebrates Holy Week, The Eucharista On Thursday, The Crucifixion On Friday And The Resurrection And Easter Vigil On Saturday

Triumphant Resurrected Christ Triumphant Resurrected Christ
Panama, Panama City The Holy Week is the annual Christian celebration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, or which is the same to celebrating His final days; therefore, it is a period of intense liturgical activity within the diverse Christian religions. It starts with Palm Sunday and ends up with Easter Sunday.

During Holy Week, the Eucharist is celebrated on Holy Thursday, the Crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday and the Resurrection and Easter Vigil during the night of Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. There are plenty of popular religious exhibitions throughout the country; with processions and performances of the Passion of Christ being the highlights. In the provinces of the interior, where the Spanish traditions and the Catholicism is stronger, the theatrical plays around biblical material are very common, although processions are a characteristic of this season, which constitutes a picturesque opportunity to discover the most rooted traditions, besides the fact that it is associated with a series of myths and legends, many of them appearing during the colonization period as a method to convince the population to develop their spiritual life instead of giving themselves away to the worldly pleasures. It was said that, those who tried to perform ordinary tasks will be punished by the divine powers. From there, the old saying from the locals, “don’t climb that tree cause you will turn into a monkey”; “stay out of the river/sea or you will turn into a fish or siren”, among others.

Is the World Too Big to Fail? The Contours of Global Order By Noam Chomsky

Crossposted with TomDispatch.com. This piece is adapted from a talk given in Amsterdam in March. See video below.

The democracy uprising in the Arab world has been a spectacular display of courage, dedication, and commitment by popular forces -- coinciding, fortuitously, with a remarkable uprising of tens of thousands in support of working people and democracy in Madison, Wisconsin, and other U.S. cities. If the trajectories of revolt in Cairo and Madison intersected, however, they were headed in opposite directions: in Cairo toward gaining elementary rights denied by the dictatorship, in Madison towards defending rights that had been won in long and hard struggles and are now under severe attack.

Each is a microcosm of tendencies in global society, following varied courses. There are sure to be far-reaching consequences of what is taking place both in the decaying industrial heartland of the richest and most powerful country in human history, and in what President Dwight Eisenhower called "the most strategically important area in the world" -- "a stupendous source of strategic power" and "probably the richest economic prize in the world in the field of foreign investment," in the words of the State Department in the 1940s, a prize that the U.S. intended to keep for itself and its allies in the unfolding New World Order of that day.

Despite all the changes since, there is every reason to suppose that today's policymakers basically adhere to the judgment of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s influential advisor A.A. Berle that control of the incomparable energy reserves of the Middle East would yield "substantial control of the world." And correspondingly, that loss of control would threaten the project of global dominance that was clearly articulated during World War II, and that has been sustained in the face of major changes in world order since that day.

From the outset of the war in 1939, Washington anticipated that it would end with the U.S. in a position of overwhelming power. High-level State Department officials and foreign policy specialists met through the wartime years to lay out plans for the postwar world. They delineated a "Grand Area" that the U.S. was to dominate, including the Western hemisphere, the Far East, and the former British empire, with its Middle East energy resources. As Russia began to grind down Nazi armies after Stalingrad, Grand Area goals extended to as much of Eurasia as possible, at least its economic core in Western Europe. Within the Grand Area, the U.S. would maintain "unquestioned power," with "military and economic supremacy," while ensuring the "limitation of any exercise of sovereignty" by states that might interfere with its global designs. The careful wartime plans were soon implemented.

It was always recognized that Europe might choose to follow an independent course. NATO was partially intended to counter this threat. As soon as the official pretext for NATO dissolved in 1989, NATO was expanded to the East in violation of verbal pledges to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. It has since become a U.S.-run intervention force, with far-ranging scope, spelled out by NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, who informed a NATO conference that "NATO troops have to guard pipelines that transport oil and gas that is directed for the West," and more generally to protect sea routes used by tankers and other "crucial infrastructure" of the energy system.

Grand Area doctrines clearly license military intervention at will. That conclusion was articulated clearly by the Clinton administration, which declared that the U.S. has the right to use military force to ensure "uninhibited access to key markets, energy supplies, and strategic resources," and must maintain huge military forces "forward deployed" in Europe and Asia "in order to shape people's opinions about us" and "to shape events that will affect our livelihood and our security."

The same principles governed the invasion of Iraq. As the U.S. failure to impose its will in Iraq was becoming unmistakable, the actual goals of the invasion could no longer be concealed behind pretty rhetoric. In November 2007, the White House issued a Declaration of Principles demanding that U.S. forces must remain indefinitely in Iraq and committing Iraq to privilege American investors. Two months later, President Bush informed Congress that he would reject legislation that might limit the permanent stationing of U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq or "United States control of the oil resources of Iraq" -- demands that the U.S. had to abandon shortly after in the face of Iraqi resistance.

In Tunisia and Egypt, the recent popular uprisings have won impressive victories, but as the Carnegie Endowment reported, while names have changed, the regimes remain: "A change in ruling elites and system of governance is still a distant goal." The report discusses internal barriers to democracy, but ignores the external ones, which as always are significant.

The U.S. and its Western allies are sure to do whatever they can to prevent authentic democracy in the Arab world. To understand why, it is only necessary to look at the studies of Arab opinion conducted by U.S. polling agencies. Though barely reported, they are certainly known to planners. They reveal that by overwhelming majorities, Arabs regard the U.S. and Israel as the major threats they face: the U.S. is so regarded by 90% of Egyptians, in the region generally by over 75%. Some Arabs regard Iran as a threat: 10%. Opposition to U.S. policy is so strong that a majority believes that security would be improved if Iran had nuclear weapons -- in Egypt, 80%. Other figures are similar. If public opinion were to influence policy, the U.S. not only would not control the region, but would be expelled from it, along with its allies, undermining fundamental principles of global dominance.

Tips On How To Be Green By Having The Smallest Foot Print: Earth Day

Panama, foot print is how much land it take to support your lifestyle?  You want to know more about footprint then take this quiz.

The first Earth Day on April 22, 1970 mobilized millions of people and promoted both awareness and action towards preserving the Earth's natural environment. For Earth Day 2011 (this Friday, April 22nd), the Earth Day Network is celebrating with A Billion Acts of Green, where visitors can pledge to commit one act of "green," whether it be tree plantings, lightbulb changings, doing laundry with cold water, and much more.

We know that working from home can not only save you money in terms of gas and mileage on your vehicle, but did you know that if the 40% of U.S. jobs that could be done from home actually were, those 50 million teleworkers could save 587 million barrels of oil, and reduce CO² by 101 million metric tons?  If you are already green, in the spirit of Earth Day, we asked  this  to continue brainstorming ideas that  could easily implement into their lives:

What is one change (big or small) that  YOU can make in your daily routine that can help out the environment and reduce your carbon footprint?

  • Reduce the usage of air conditioning by making an organic roof garden. Water the plants every day, smell the fragrance of flowers, and watch small creatures flying around!
  • When your laptop battery is full, just unplug the power source.
  • Save paper by printing double-sided. Refill ink cartridges instead of buying new ones. Remove the hard drive from old computers then recycle it.
  • Spend some of the time you would usually be commuting growing fresh herbs / veggies / fruit in your garden...and compost!"
  • Use a hybrid electric source and a laptop with an earth friendly battery!
  • Walk to your nearby stores.
  • User recycled clothing and jeans
  • Reduce your throw a ways
  • Take grocery bags back to the store and reuse them

Here is a few more, if you are looking to go green:

  • In your home or office, position your desk and seats to optimize for natural light. Not only will it save you from using electricty for lighting and heat, but many scientists believe that natural light offers many positive health benefits as well.
  • Reduce your standby power usage. Many electronics, including TVs, computers, office equipment, video game consoles and home theater systems continue to use electricity when they appear off in standby mode. Utilizing a surge protector with an on/off switch can help you control standby power usage from multiple devices. Learn more about Standby Power at Wikipedia
  • Optimize your PCs power settings. By setting up a power profile, you'll teach your PC how to conserve its own electricity. I tell my computer to turn off the displays after 2 minutes of idle activity and to sleep after 5 minutes. For more tips on configuring your computers power settings, check out these links: Windows Power Settings, Apple Mac OS X Energy Saver
  • Recycle your old equipment. Computers and common office equipment oftentimes contains very hazardous chemicals, including mercury, lead, and PCBs and can significantly damage the earth's ecosystem. Be sure to recycle or dispose of your PCs, printers, monitors, batteries, and other equipment safely.
  • A home office can potentially use a lot of paper, so be mindful of your printing habits. Buy paper made with 100 percent post-consumer waste, print only when needed, and of course, print on both sides when possible.
  • Make sure you refill ink cartridges rather than buying new ones, or at the least, dispose of your printer cartridges at local stores that offer cartridge recyling services.
  • Don't hesitate to invest in upgrading parts of your home in the name of energy efficiency. Your home is your workplace as well, and you may spend twice as much time there as a result.
If you like these tips please leave us a note and tell us more on how you are contributing to greener earth. We love to hear back from you.

Panama initiates formal dialogue with German airline

Although the German airline Lufthansa was expected to arrive in Panama back in 2010, it is not until now that formal negotiations between the airline and Panamanian authorities will begin.

Last week, the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) sent a formal invitation to the directors of the company, inviting them to learn more about the country and the expansion currently taking place at the Tocumen International Airport.

An important step in the process is the alliance that Lufthansa could establish with Panamanian airline Copa, with the aim, through the hub at Tocumen, of allowing the German company to reach markets in Latin America that are currently not covered.

Last year, Lufthansa carried 60 million passengers, 5 percent more than in 2009.

If the arrival of Lufthansa to Panama is formalized, it would join another German company, Condor, which has been offering a weekly flight between Frankfurt and Panama since November 2010.

January Occupancy in Panama Hotel Sector was more than 68%

The official first month report of "revenue generated by tourism" is out.

According to a report issued by the Comptroller General of the Republic, in January this year, 68.5% of hotel rooms available in the country were occupied.

This figure is the highest in the last four years, in comparison, the same month of January from 2007 to date.

Additionally, the official report indicates that during the first 31 days of this year  143 thousand tourists arrived to Panama, representing an increase of 13.8% compared to same period last year.

These visitors made a total expenditure of approximately U.S. $ 160.2 million, 4% more than in 2010.

The increase in these figures due to a combination of factors.

"First the congress and convention tourism has begun to take over the promotion which was launched at the international level, "free offers" by Atlapa," said Sarah Brown, president of the Panamanian Association of Hotels.

Another factor behind these increases is in passengers coming to the country to use the cruise ships sail from Columbus, said the representative of the hotel.

Traditionally in Panama, the first months of the year, because it is the summer season are the highest occupancy in the year and has the highest  profitability.

Where The World Meets "Panama"

New marketing slogans unveiled

Panama tourism officials unveiled the country's new marketing slogans yesterday, one in English and one in Spanish.

The Spanish slogan, "Unimos al mundo," was developed by
consultant David Lightle, who created the slogan for Colombia, "Colombia es Pasión."

The government decided against using a translation of that phrase in English, and instead decided to use the slogan,
"Where the world meets" for its marketing campaigns in English.

Manager of the Tourism Authority of Panama, Salomón Shamah, said the Spanish slogan is more direct and "sentimental," while the English slogan "is more corporate and defines the position of Panama as an ideal point for doing business."

The government spent $100,000 on developing the slogans.

Lightle said Panama has to work hard to revamp its image as a tourist destination, as right now it is seen as a destination that is primarily focused on
business and shopping, and not as a destination for vacations.
