January Occupancy in Panama Hotel Sector was more than 68%

The official first month report of "revenue generated by tourism" is out.

According to a report issued by the Comptroller General of the Republic, in January this year, 68.5% of hotel rooms available in the country were occupied.

This figure is the highest in the last four years, in comparison, the same month of January from 2007 to date.

Additionally, the official report indicates that during the first 31 days of this year  143 thousand tourists arrived to Panama, representing an increase of 13.8% compared to same period last year.

These visitors made a total expenditure of approximately U.S. $ 160.2 million, 4% more than in 2010.

The increase in these figures due to a combination of factors.

"First the congress and convention tourism has begun to take over the promotion which was launched at the international level, "free offers" by Atlapa," said Sarah Brown, president of the Panamanian Association of Hotels.

Another factor behind these increases is in passengers coming to the country to use the cruise ships sail from Columbus, said the representative of the hotel.

Traditionally in Panama, the first months of the year, because it is the summer season are the highest occupancy in the year and has the highest  profitability.

International Turism Expo 2011 Is Coming To Atlapa September 22, 23

 Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama and the Chamber of 
Panama Tourism presented the second edition of International Tourism Expo 
  
Given the success of the first version of International Tourism Expo, the 
Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) and House 
Tourism (CAMTUR) present the second edition of International Tourism Expo. 
  
International Tourism Expo will be held on 22 and September 23, 2011, in 
ATLAPA Convention Center. 
  
(Panama, 08 February 2011). The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture 
Panama (CCIAP), together with the Chamber of Tourism of Panama (CAMTUR) and support 
Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) present the second version of Expo 
International Tourism. 
  
This fair, which will take place on 22 and 23 September 2011, It will target 
airlines, hotel chains, tour operators, golf clubs and recreation 
in general, shopping centers and businesses that provide tourism services and products 
the country, as well as offering other tourist destinations in the region. 
  
International Tourism Expo, will allow the main managers of the tourism industry

exchange supply and demand.
