Tourism is exploding in Jordan- See Why

Jordan, a relatively small country located in the Middle East, has nevertheless become one of the most popular medical tourism destinations in the world in recent years. With over one billion medical tourism dollars in 2007 alone, Jordan is now seen nearly 1/4 million international medical travelers seeking a variety of medical services, treatments, and procedures in clinics, outpatient support facilities and hospitals in Jordan.

Why are Travelers Heading to Jordan?
Not only is Jordan a beautiful and exotic country to visit on vacation, it also offers some of the world's most technologically advanced, state of the art equipment. Surgeons and physicians in Jordan are highly trained and adhere to high quality standards of care and medical service delivery systems. On top of that, medical travelers from the United States can save between 10% to 30% on costs of surgical procedures and treatments.

Jordan is ranked first in the Middle East and fifth in the world as a leading medical provider.  The Jordan Ministry of Health has worked hard to earn their first billion in revenue by the end of 2010, offering accredited and certified facilities, physicians, and surgeons to travelers seeking cardiac care, orthopedic surgeries, vision care, obesity and bariatric surgical procedures, fertility treatments and cancer procedures.

Jordan has a long history of offering groundbreaking technology and surgical procedures in the world. In the 1970s, Jordan was the first country to perform an open heart surgery, a kidney transplant, and laparoscopic surgery. In the 1980s, Jordan performed the first heart transplant, and delivered the first baby born through In Vitro fertilization procedures. In the mid 1990s, Jordan was the first to perform a successful bone marrow transplant, and by 2004, had performed the world's first live liver transplant.

Jordan Offers Easy Access
Because of its excellent diplomatic relations with most countries around the world, travelers heading to Jordan typically only need a passport, though check with local Jordanian embassies or consulates to determine visa requirements. Visas are generally granted for a period of three months, but can be extended without problem for most when necessary.

The Jordan Ministry of Health makes medical travel easy, offering a counter at their major airport to help guide and advise medical tourists. The Medical Tourism Corporation offers a variety of network hospitals providing accommodations to patients as well as guests, both in hospitals and at quality and comfortable hotel accommodations in major cities.

Most Jordan healthcare facilities are accredited by both domestic and international organizations, and adhere to the highest global standards of medical care, with many facilities accredited by the ISQua (International Society for quality in Health Care).

Staff at most Jordanian healthcare facilities speak a number of languages, including English, Arabic, Russian, and some also speak French and German. A large number of Jordanian doctors and surgeons are certified by American or United Kingdom fellowships and boards, guaranteeing the best in experience and expertise after having trained at world renowned facilities such as John Hopkins, the Cleveland Clinic, and the Mayo Clinic.
