The Loquat Zoo or Zoologico El Niospero  is located at the foot of Cerro Gaital, and has about 7 acres of land surrounded off by huge tropical pines. The cool climate of this region is obviously cool  due to its 600 meters above sea level geograhic location.


Depending on your route,  your visit will be at least 45 minutes, but his curiosity and contemplation of the species and the landscape will surely extend the duration of the ride. The zoo houses some 90 species of animals besides some 180 varieties of trees and plants, mostly native to the area. 

Among the animal species you can see exotic birds in Asia and Africa, such as peacocks, golden pheasants and white, as well as some tropical species such as parrots and macaws and toucans. Monkeys, ocelots, tapirs and ocelots are only the beginning of an extensive collection of animals that will delight young and old alike.

"The Loquat is the new home of the Amphibian Conservation Center in El Valle (EVACC), an amphibian research center sponsored by zoos in Houston, San Antonio and San Diego. The center studies the bacteria that is responsible for the eradication of the golden frog and other amphibians, and work to ensure the survival of amphibians. It features aquariums, exhibits and a video center and reading, in English and Spanish. 

For tours or large groups, the zoo offers a guided tour, which will give details about the features and information on the species that harbor.
