Soropta Canal, The Other Important Canal In Panama

The Soropta Canal Panama is an artificial canal, built by banana traders to transport their goods along the coast, feeds itself from the Sixaola river and allows marine taxis to transit between the towns of Changuinola and Isla Colon, in Bocas del Toro. Since this canal crosses the San San Pondsack Reserve, it is possible to see thousands of tropical birds in such a diverse wild habitat. The canal was used to transport the fruit from Boca del Drago and Changuinola through rivers and canals in the region are from this area.
Today, a tour of this ancient waterway will provide a fascinating view of a wetland at its best along with the typical fauna of the ecosystem: water birds, small mammals and amphibians, in addition to the magnificent colors of trees, fruits and flowers
